Theoretical-practical training course for workers working on self-propelled forklifts with drivers on board (required under D. Lgs. 81 of 2008) aims to provide students with the general principles for handling Self-propelled forklifts in full compliance with workplace health and safety standards in Italy and Europe.

Duration: 12 – 16 – 20 hours

Program

A reference to general legislation on occupational hygiene and safety, with particular reference to work at altitude and the use of work equipment for work at altitude (D.Lgs. 81/2008).

– Types and characteristics of the various types of vehicles for internal transport: from manual pallets to counterweight front forklifts.

– Main risks associated with the use of semolina trolleys: load fall, overturning, overturning, impactof people with the load or with mobile elements of the trolley, risks related to the environment (obstacles, power lines, etc.), risks related to different forms of energy (electrical, hydraulic, etc.).

– Basics of physics: basics for the evaluation of handled loads, equilibrium conditions of a body. Stability (concept of the center of gravity of the load and the first degree lever).tipping lines. Static and dynamic stability and influence due to trolley and work environment mobility (centrifugal and inertia forces). Forklift range.

– Technology of the moving trolleys: terminology, general characteristics and main components. Mechanisms, their characteristics, their functions and principles of operation.

– Main components: forks and/or gripping organs (additional equipment, etc.). Lift struts (simplex – duplex – triplex – quadruplex – etc., free-rise and non-free). Driver’s seat with description of the seat, control organs (levers, pedals, steering and steering column, parking brake, general key switch, emergency switch), signalling devices (horn, reversing beep, signals working headlights, etc.) control (operating tools and lights). Brakes (parking and service brake). Wheels and rubber types: differences for the various types of use, steering wheels and drive. Energy sources (batteries of batteries or endothermal motors). Counterweight.

– Battery charging systems: straighteners and safety about how to use it also in relation to the environment.

– Command and security devices: identification of the control devices and their operation, identification of security devices and their function. Active and passive protection systems.

– Balance conditions: factors and elements that affect stability. Flow (nominal/actual). Illustration and reading of nameplates, tables or diagrams of nominal and actual flow rate. Influence of terms of use on nominal flow characteristics. Management aids (load indicators and other indicators, etc.).

– Checks and maintenance: daily and periodic checks (general and testing status, struts, equipment, driver’s seat, brakes, wheels and steering, battery or engine, safety devices). Illustration of the importance of proper use of the manuals for use and maintenance in addition to the cart.

– How self-propelled trolleys are safely used: handling procedures. Safety signs in the workplace. Safety procedure during the handling and parking of the vehicle. Roadways: obstacles, pedestrian paths, intersections, narrows, gates, slopes, etc. Work in special conditions or outdoors, slippery terrain and slopes and with poor visibility. Driving basics. Traffic rules, cargo handling, storage, etc. Understanding the possible health and safety risks associated with driving the trolley and in particular the risks related to it:

  • To the work environment;
  • To the man-machine relationship;
  • To the health of the driver.

– Understanding the technical, organisational and behavioural modes and personal protection to prevent risks.

Practical module: industrial carvings (4 hours)

– Illustration, following the instructions of use of the cart, the various components and safety.

– Maintenance and periodic and periodic legal checks and as indicated in the instructions of use of the cart.

– Cart guide on test path to highlight the correct vacuum and load maneuvers (correct position on the trolley, loading, transport in various situations, cart stop, etc.).

Practical module: telescopic arm self-propelled trolleys (4 hours)

– Illustration, following the instructions of use of the cart, the various components and safety.

– Maintenance and periodic and periodic legal checks and as indicated in the instructions of use of the cart.

– Cart guide on test path to highlight the correct vacuum and load maneuvers (correct position on the trolley, loading, transport in various situations, cart stop, etc.).

Practical module: rotating telescopic telescopic car/lifts/lifts (4 hours)

– Illustration, following the instructions of use of the cart, the various components and safety.

– Maintenance and periodic and periodic legal checks and as indicated in the instructions of use of the cart.

– Cart guide on test path to highlight the correct vacuum and load maneuvers (correct position on the trolley, loading, transport in various situations, cart stop, etc.).

Practical module: self-propelled industrial trolleys, telescopic arm self-propelled trolleys and rotating telescopic self-propelled trolleys/lifts (8 hours)
